“My parents, my 3 children, my husband and I
stayed at Cave Hill over Thanksgiving. What a beautiful home and surrounding
area. We had an amazing time. Everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving
feast was in the house. The Carr family had thoughtfully prepared a table
with maps and information on lots of local attractions. We will absolutely
stay there again. - My mom can't wait to stay there again.” – Guests from North Carolina,
Thanksgiving 2009. “What a great getaway!” – Girls
Craft Weekend; five ladies from Cincinnati. “Loved the house! Well stocked kitchen, we even made
crème brule! We walked the trail twice, great
view. Saw some bluebirds.“ --
Group of ladies from Cincinnati going to the Amish Birding Seminar. “Had a wonderful Spring weekend – so many
wonderful surprises – field of daffodils, owls in the silent
night. Thank you – we hope
to be back again.” –
A family from Cleveland, Ohio. “What more could we ask for – lovely home
away from home. Well-stocked
kitchen, beautiful interior and furnishings and enough windows to bring the
outside in. Privacy, wooded
location; everything we have longed to find. Saturday found us at Millers
[Miller’s bakery in the Amish community]. Ah – apple fritters right from
the oven and still warm – melt in your mouth! Returned for a walk to the field to
enjoy the view and explore.
Wondering who built the log barn and how long ago did they settle
here. Saw so many butterflies and
a box turtle. Sunday morning
awoke early to nature’s alarm clock . . . “Gobble, gobble,
gobble”. Looked out the
window and saw a “Tom” turkey calling for a mate while he fanned
his tail. Joining in his quest
were three does grazing right in front of the window. Renewed & refreshed. Sadly, we prepare to depart –
longing to return.” -- A
couple from Ashland, KY. “We enjoyed the beautiful cabin very much. Nice amenities & beautiful
surroundings. Hiked here &
visited the Amish businesses.
Plan to come back & stay here again.” Two couples from Cincinnati and
Northern KY. “What a beautiful place! It was a pleasure staying here. Hope to come back one day.” A couple from Cincinnati and parents
from South Africa. “We had a great weekend here. The walks through the trails were so
peaceful and relaxing.” A
family from Pickerington, Ohio. “We saw deer while sitting on the deck. The soda fountain at Blake’s
[Pharmacy in West Union] was a blast from the past. We spent the evening looking at old pictures
and catching up. What an awesome
place – can’t wait to share pictures with our
friends!” A family from
Columbus, Ohio. “Refreshed and renewed. This was the summer of butterflies
– at least 7 different varieties.
Never left the lodge except for walks. Saw 2 turkeys, 1 fawn. Read “Atlas Shrugged”
& “5,000 Year Leap”.
Peace and quiet and renewed.” A couple from Ashland, KY. “Thank you.
A very unique experience for 7 from California. We came to visit family & friends
and left with wonderful memories of the beauty of Ohio. Everything we needed was here or
nearby . . . a laundry area would have made it exceed Excellent!” A family from Lompoc, California. “Six sisters on our yearly weekend
vacation. This is the most
beautiful house, unique and gorgeous settings, we’ve ever stayed. Had a wonderful time walking in the
woods, sitting on the deck, looking at the stars and just relaxing. Hope to come back one day to this
peaceful retreat, to see more deer, butterflies and turkeys.” “We had a great time at the lodge. The seclusion,
quiet location, scenery and lack of traffic were great. We hiked on the
trail each day down to the bottom of the fields and around the ponds.
That is really a nice property - has a little of everything.
Looks like you are going to have a nice cabin when you are finished
with the renovation too. “We thoroughly enjoyed being in your
vacation home and came back rejuvenated. The woods were as
beautiful as the house, autumn is a special time,
for sure. We look forward to returning in the not too
distant future.” A couple
from Cincinnati. “For the past two years we have
celebrated Christmas together in this beautiful cabin. We spent our “time” “Enjoying
the time” together . . . the boys went caving, a trip to Millers for
some fresh baked Amish goods, dinner at the diner, crafts with the kids, and
watching every one play with their Christmas gifts. We anticipate this time together every
year and once again had an awesome and memorable time. Thank you for sharing this place with
us.” “Oh by the way when I went on my
walk through I meant to tell you how GORGEOUS the house is. It’s amazing. Job well done Mr. Carr” “I know what peace is; it’s
like being in the cupola” 7
year old boy, overhearing the adults saying kids “have never known peace”
since 9/11. |
